Super Sneak Peek 2 - Miss S & Miss S!

So last night I was watching Master Chef Junior (which is why no sneak peek went up of girls with guns, sorry folks!) but it really got me thinking! Have you ever watched Master Chef or Master Chef Junior? I personally was never into cooking shows until I met Kelli (le boyfriend) and he watched them, and as I would work from home he would throw it on the TV and I ended up really getting into the show. Damn reality TV. But anyways, if you've never seen the show here is a rundown of what happens:

Master Chef Junior:
- Young contestants under the age of 12 are selected to compete on the show
- They cook these amazing dishes within a certain time limit, half of which I've never heard of, to, as Gordon Ramsay says, "absolute perfection" (if they're lucky)
- If they don't cook the best dishes they go into an elimination challenge and have to cook a dish that the winners of the challenge pick for them
- Some kids go through to the next round, others are dismissed from the show
- So on & so forth, with different spins on each episode including cooking as a team, cooking solo, cooking things they've never made (without a recipe!), until finally one "Master Chef Junior" is chosen as the elite kid with the most supreme cooking skills
- They receive a cash prize of $100,000 and a trophy

Master Chef:
- Almost the same format as MCJ except the contestants are adults
- They compete on the show and the winner receives a large cash prize and a contract to be Gordon's head chef in one of his restaurants

The difference between each show is the attitudes of the contestants, and it's a huge difference. On MC adult version the people are not very kind to one another, they don't cheer for each other, they don't encourage one another, they don't care about their teammates or their opponents. They only care about themselves and how they fare. Okay yes granted they are winning a large cash prize, and landing a new job as head chef somewhere, is that really an excuse to treat other people the way they do? The entire show seems to be them bitching about each other, the tasks assigned to them, and the overall atmosphere they are asked to work in. It's actually disheartening to see people treating each other that way.

Switch the channel to Master Chef Junior and it's an entirely different story. The kids cheer for each other, even during the final elimination challenges. They high five after every dish, they hug each other, they encourage one another and give each other pats on the back for a job well done, or even one well attempted. They cry when they get eliminated from the show, but not usually because they have to go home (they're excited to see their pets, siblings and friends that they've missed) but because they're going to miss the new friends that they've made on the show. What a 180 degree difference from the attitudes of children contestants to that of adults!

It got me wondering why that is. What happens in our lives that we stop encouraging each other, and instead start putting each other down, and stepping on others to get ahead ourselves. Why is this the norm for adults? Why aren't we helping one another so we can all benefit? Why don't we see the value in other people, instead of what they can do for us, why don't we see what we can do for them?

It also really made me feel like the attitude of MCJ and MC is the difference between our studio here at Katie Pahara Photography and Katt Panic Makeup Artistry, and those of other photography studios  and make-up studios in the world. We are all about fostering an environment that makes you feel warm, welcome, and like you are just an old friend coming for a visit, whether you are a client, someone in either of our fields, or someone interested in pursuing a career in our fields. I really do feel as though we have something different here than other people do: we are about facing challenges together and about being brave together. We celebrate our clients victories with them, and we cry with them too. We really become true friends.

If you've thought about booking a boudoir session, or a makeup appointment or lesson, we would love to meet you and show you how different our studio is! (Plus we have some incredible January specials going on for Valentine's Day and Katt's birthday!) Without further ado, here are some lovely sneak peeks of the gorgeous Miss S & the stunning Miss S! As always, hair & make-up by the amazing Katt Panic Makeup Artistry !
